Crystal Pool Water Wall
I was one of 17 artists chosen to create a 28-panel mural at the Crystal Pool and Fitness Center. The mural is 8’ x 48′ and runs along the east wall. The Water Wall features abstract and representational water patterns and designs that work together as a whole to complement the Pool. This is a community art project developed in partnership between the City of Victoria BC and the Vancouver Island School of Art.
Designer clothing is cut to loosely reflect the shapes of nature. These are inserted into the natural environment and left in tides for a minimum of 24 hours to let the elements have its impact. Some of the materials become part of the environment and I never see them again. Others resurface after a number of days. These actions focus on the connectedness I feel with my surroundings. The communication is documented.
