Anna Curtin (born Vancouver, Canada,1956) resides in Victoria, British Columbia. Living and working from coast to coast to coast developed her intense love of the land. Her paintings and drawings capture a felt sense of the land as an energetic force beyond language and boundaries. At the same time her work acknowledges the reality of the pervading nature of technology in the present day. Summers spent off the grid, as well as farming in New Brunswick, working as a nurse in remote areas of the Northwest Territories tundra and yearly sea kayaking excursions, have reinforced Anna’s strong connection to the landscape. A former lay midwife, registered nurse and educator, she is now a full-time artist who is committed to both her own art and the power of art in her community. Anna has a MFA from the University of Gloucestershire, UK. and is a graduate of the diploma program in fine arts at the Vancouver Island School of Art in Victoria. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections in London UK, B.C., California and Mexico.
